Port Adelaide Transition

Following extensive planning, approximately 170 Shared Services SA staff from a number of service delivery areas recently relocated to new accommodation at Port Adelaide.
The following teams relocated over the course of May and June 2018:
  • Accounts Payable - Payments, Review and Vendor Maintenance
  • Accounts Receivable - Invoicing and Receipting

Minimisation of Paper Project

Over the last 12 months the Shared Services SA Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Financial Operations teams have introduced a range of initiatives to reduce their dependence on paper records.

The following table illustrates the difference a year has made in paper use and storage across the business.

Late Payment Interest Project

On 17 March 2018, the Premier issued instructions to agencies regarding the payment of government bills on time.  The objective of the Government’s commitment is to ensure that all undisputed invoices are paid within the standard 30 day payment terms.
The commitment has two major components:

Whole of Life Transfers

On 1 August 2018, the new CHRIS 21 Whole of Life Transfers functionality was implemented for Phase 1 agencies.  Phase 1 includes transfers between the Department of Treasury and Finance, Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Attorney-General’s Department and the Department for Environment and Water, as well as Medical Officer transfers between Local Health Networks.

The Whole of Life Transfer process provides the following benefits:

Online Bonafide and Leave Return Reports

The implementation of online Bonafide and Leave Return reporting via HR21 Employee and Manager Self-Service continues, with the Department for Child Protection and Southern Adelaide Local Health Network both receiving their first online reports in the last pay of the 2017-18 Financial Year.
The new functionality enables:
  • The automated generation of Bonafide and Leave Return reports

Taxation Standardisation Project

Shared Services SA is currently undertaking a project to implement standard policies and procedures for the end-to-end management of our GST and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) review services. The recommendations from an external review of the current service delivery arrangements have been incorporated into the scope of the project.

Australian Tax Office Third Party Reporting

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) has embarked on an ambitious program to improve Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Pay As You Go Tax compliance through enhanced reporting and data matching.  Shared Services SA is leading the implementation of the new reporting requirements for our client agencies in the non-Health sector.
