The Australian Tax Office (ATO) has embarked on an ambitious program to improve Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Pay As You Go Tax compliance through enhanced reporting and data matching. Shared Services SA is leading the implementation of the new reporting requirements for our client agencies in the non-Health sector.
Government entities are now required to provide the ATO with annual reporting on services provided by, and grant payments made to, entities with an Australian Business Name (ABN). To deliver the required reporting, tailored system solutions have been developed and implemented within Basware and Masterpiece, which are supported by changes to vendor creation/maintenance procedures.
This data collection commenced on 1 July 2017 and the first lodgement with the ATO occurred on 28 August 2018. Shared Services SA generated test reports for 17 agencies and lodged data on behalf of 22 agencies.
Further refinement and enhancement of the data capture, review and reporting processes will be undertaken in conjunction with client agencies leading up to the next annual reporting cycle.
